Color is one of my absolute favorite subjects! I remember coloring as a little girl, going through the crayon box and naming reasons why I liked each color. So silly!
We may be out of January but we are not out of the grey skies just yet. This a perfect time to rummage through the house, the thrift store, or even an old book to find some ways to brighten up your favorite space. I’ve curated 5 of my favorite ways to add that unexpected pop of color. Let’s jump in!

- Who doesn’t love flowers year ’round?! I love to read, to make a bouquet of picked flowers, and clipboards. If you are of the same mind then this DIY is for you! I chose to use fabric remnants and a tote of old frames to make my focal wall because that is what I had on hand. Use what you have and what feels good to you, there is no wrong way.

2. Look! We’ve added color and it literally took up no room! If you can braid and wrap yarn around a little piece of cardboard then you can do this. THIS is my favorite way to make pom poms, I hope you get a kick out of it as well!

3. This one is easy! The bathroom is a great, possibly unexpected spot to add color. I know I like to see something bright in the morning while I get ready for the day. A quick run to Target or a loungy Amazon browse will get ya there on a budget!

4. Get out that sewing machine and spend a blissful afternoon making some fun throw pillows! There are so many ways to have fun with this and those pillow can go everywhere! Head over to The Budget Decorator for some how-tos and inspiration.

5. Paint a lamp! While you’re perusing your favorite thrift store have a look at the lamps. Check out the shapes, ignoring the facade. Painting the lamp in a solid gives it a whole new life. A table lamp is the best for this quick flip and it really packs a punch! I found this lamp years ago and was going through a purple kick. The lamp shade needed to be replaced to add the modern feel I was going for. The clear marble top was just for fun!
Well, that’s it! All of these ideas came from my Pinterest boards with the exception of the last one. That one is all mine! Have a look-see and get some color popping around the house!
