Dream a little bigger. Grow a little braver.
I love to dream. It is the pastime I choose when I am waiting in a doctor’s office with my son, or meandering the backroads as a way to avoid the reality my brain likes to dwell on. That is my brain’s favorite pastime, bothering me with all the things I haven’t done or done well in the whole of my life. I digress. I have come to know dreaming as the continual state for a creative mind.
Dreaming Out Loud
I was given the incredible blessing of a heavy life. Hardships create opportunities to find the light. Then, after spending some time in that light, you learn to project it. My son’s medical diagnosis kept me from holding a “real job” so I created one for myself instead. That really was the catalyst to discovering my talent for dreaming up all the different ways I could occupy my time as a mompreneur.
My redhead once did a sketch of how ideas look in my noggin. It looked like a parade of ideas marching down Main St, holding up their sign for a quick cheer, and quickly falling back into place while the next sign (idea) got its cheer. I think I still have the drawing somewhere. My daughter drew it while I was going on about some new ideas I had for the business.

I am a perpetual daydreamer. Am I supposed to dwell on the heavy? I certainly hope not. My goal and sole purpose in this life is to brighten my corner of the world as best I can. I do some of that by being what is perceived as a scattered mess of ideas. (I’ve been told this by my mother, so it has to be true.) These ideas aren’t always meant to be mine but shared with someone who is supposed to make it a reality.
Creating a BIG life
I am currently moving from what started as an incomplete dream to a moment of growth. We are in our third month of Mississippi living and loving it. Well, loving most of it. I miss my favorite grocery store and am still learning how to slow down. It’s more of a trick than I thought it would be! The community around us has made this transition a smoother one than we could have ever expected. The business has been up and running for 2 months now with more growth in sight.
The point of this little story is that the path or dreaming leads to growth, courage, and a living a BIG life. Big doesn’t mean expensive or extravagent. It means happiness, faith, courage, and love… in exactly the way you want it to look. I have found that the more I trust the Lord with my dreams and growth the BIGGER He keeps making my life.
All my dreaming started with wanting a family, which led to having the family, which led to three of those family members growing up on me, to finally giving myself permission to dream for me. I am still a work in progress and hopefully all of this growth leads to a wiser, more grounded me. We’ll see. That’s it for me this week but I promise, I’ll have more ramblings for you soon.
